| Los Angeles, October 1, 2007--On Friday, October 5th (6:30am-9:00am) at Santa Monica beach, some of LA’s most successful women join Oxygen CEO Geraldine Laybourne, Cathy Benko, managing principal of talent and leader of Deloitte's Women's Initiative (WIN), and Debi Picciolo, President of the LA North Division of Time Warner Cable, to walk and mentor local young women. Oxygen, the only cable television network owned and operated by women, is bringing together high-profile women leaders from a variety of fields to walk and talk for LA’s first Oxygen Mentors Walk, part of the network’s successful national initiative, Mentors Walk: Bringing Along the Next Generation. |
Oxygen started Oxygen's Mentors Walk in 2005 in New York's Central Park. Some of the most powerful women in New York came out to mentor young women who shared their passion and dream of breaking into that field. The excitement was palpable and contagious. Meryl Street, Heidi Miller, CEO of JP Morgan Chase, Diane Von Furstenberg, Deborah Norville, Kelly Wallace, Wenda Harris Millard of Yahoo and Bonnie Fuller of Star Magazine, are just a few women who joined together. As the only cable television network owned and operated by women, Oxygen reaches out to non-profit women's business and mentoring organizations to recruit mentees who register on a first-come, first-served basis. Oxygen believes this event has the potential to influence and inspire young women in a huge way. In keeping with Oxygen's commitment to inspiring and supporting women through unique initiatives, Oxygen's Mentors Walk will offer ambitious female professionals a once in a lifetime opportunity to receive guidance from icons and trailblazers in their fields. |
